"Oshkosh 2002"

Just got home from Oshkosh 2002. Another great time/adventure!Patty's flights were spot on as usual! Thursdays weather wasn't all that great (clouds, some rain, and winds). Not only did she fly, but she also made her inverted ribbon cut, and made it look easy as ever!!!

Greetings! It sounds like you guys have been to Oshkosh before.
In comparison to other times you've been there, I'd like to know your overall thoughts on this year's event. After 9/11, I think everyone was expecting smaller than usual turn outs (except perhaps the EAA's 50th anniversary may have offset that), and fewer exhibitors and aircraft.
Thanks!
Ben

My 8th year actually. We generally go up from Tuesday through the weekend.I was more concerned about overly restrictive security after 9/11; while there may have been more security people the same rules applied as before so that was good.
I don't think the crowd was any larger or smaller than normal; but I haven't read any estimates to date on it.
Its a great escape for us; we generally don't see a newspaper (other than EAA's AirAdventure Today) or watch the news; so all your trouble fades for the week.
Its great to see Patty, Dale, Melissa etc and have some time to talk (Oshkosh is hectic but not as hectic as a weekend airshow).

Oshkosh was great this year. This was my second straight year going. I had a blast. I was able to talk to Patty and Ralphe some. Patty, Emma loves the shirt you signed of her! You think I need to get some new friends after hanging with the F-15 guys? They were so funny, I was riding around looking at there jets with them, and they all wanted to know where Patty was! Great show by all the performers. The weather was a litte wet and cold at times but i still had fun. -=Savannah=-
Remember free fly, fly fast, fly low and if your airplane allows... fly inverted! ---Made up by the future airshow pilots of America!

Hi Dave and Hi Savannah et alThanks for posting your messages. It was great to see you at Oshkosh - thanks for holding a pole Dave! Also, Dave, great to see Michael, Kevin and Darlene. You guys are all such great airshow supporters.
I'm home for just one day before heading out again to a company picnic airshow near Greenville, S.C. for Champion Aerospace. They provide us, and other airshow pilots - like the Aeroshell Team and Mike Goulian, who will also be there - with spark plugs and ignition harnesses and we're all proud to be associated with them.
We all had a good time at Oshkosh and thought the weather (except for the couple of rain showers) was beautiful this year!
