"EXTRA MANAGEMENT TEAM TO BUY COMPANY"
Posted by Ben_Chiu on 08-01-03 at 19:30z
From AOPA epilot today:EXTRA MANAGEMENT TEAM TO BUY COMPANY, STEAM AHEAD ON 500
A new management team, with Ken Keith as CEO and Walter Extra as chief
design officer, has taken over control of Extra Aircraft, putting the
company in a stronger position, said Keith at Oshkosh. Primary goals
include the continuation of the successful 300 aerobatic aircraft production
and refinement, and the certification of the turboprop version of the 400,
known as the 500. Extra plans to build roughly 24 300s in 2004, and about
seven 400/500s in that year, with production increases to 60 per year
eventually.

While they will continue the Extra300 line and 400 (and 500?) is there any talk of an updated or re-designed Extra aerobat in the works??Not that the Extra 300 is lacking, just curious of future updates!

On a related note, one of the guys from FSFORUM submitted this picture from a recent trip to the UK. I'm not familiar with this XS model. Anyone know how it differs from the 300L and 300S?
Thanks!

Hey allFrom what I hear, the new Extra team is very focused on the aerobatic line of airplanes - Extra 300S and 300L.
The 300SX is just like my Extra 300S with modified engine and larger rudder, plus it has a counterweighted elevator.
