Now that the beta testing is nearing the end for VPC I highly reccomend that the use of the pop-up window be discontinued.

Although it seems a useful tool, most of us who use the internet consider it an abomination. That is mainly because 99% of pop-ups are unrequested advertisements.

When going to a site I like to see a well-constructed home page with all desired links cleary presented. I do not need a web master telling me what I must see before the home page is even fully loaded.

Just a thought, but I hate pop-ups, even if of an informative manner.

By "Pop-up window," are you referring to the NOTAMs window or some other one(s)?

Perhaps we should move this conversation to the VPC BETA forum?

I find no reason to move this to a private forum. When I go to VPC and choose to enter the site, I am force fed a pop-up called Notams. A well designed home page should have no need of such mechanisms. I kind of feel like the goose that is fed by a funnel to produce Foie Gras. Most professional web sites find no need for such forced content. I think I am capable of choosing which portions of your site I choose to read without it being forced down my throat.

Not to say all pop-ups are bad, but 99% of them produce uninvited advertisements. Extensive use of them takes away my right to choose, even if they are used in pure innocence and of an informative nature.

Pop-ups might have started out as a good idea, but their use has been corrupted as a delivery method for ads.
