"New Launcher and FSHost issues"
Posted by Ben_Chiu on 03-09-03 at 21:21z
Greetings:Guido was having trouble connecting to the Persistent World Flight. A look at the server logs show the following message:
"You are being automatically disconnected. Either your inbound TCP & UDP ports 2300-2400 aren't open, or your connection is too slow to join the game."
Emile, you may want to have a look at those ports in your firewall.
Thanks!
Ben

Hello Ben,
I will, BTW during the Rally yesterday I had several looks at the "logging" available in the Flight terminal (being at the office I do not remember the "official name") , I did observe that some information is not available anymore, only the aircraft is still available, previously I did have the position, heading, .....I also did find that there is an option in FS2002.cfg allowing to transfer all aircraft information when running in multiplayer session so that you can "see" the other player's aircraft as they are flying and not a default aircraft texture , why dont we use this option?
Have a nice day

As far as I know, it still works. Did you try clicking the refresh button? I'll try it out again later when I have a minute.

While it sounds like a neat idea on paper, it really isn't very efficient. You're much better off downloading and installing the aircraft outside of a multiplayer session.
At the Zone, we used to have a set of standardized freeware aircraft compiled into a group that we called Zplanes. Perhaps we should consider doing something like that here? Anyone want to volunteer to put a set together?

I do confirm the "status" only gives some informations like the aircraft, the other information is no more available, more when I was flying I was reported as "not in plane", I made a screen shot and it is uploaded.
Of course all this was made without the ZoneAlarm firewall, I do not know yet how to open the 2300-2400 ports.Regards

There's a misunderstanding about this selection. It means that FS2002 will send data regarding the plane the other player is flying. *IF* you already have that plane, either default or an addon, it will display, HOWEVER if you do NOT have that plane, FS will take a best guess from the default. More often than not, you'll see them flying the same plane as yourself.
It does not display the plane the user is flying if you don't have it on your system.
Hope I've explained this properly.
