"ACARS Q's update"

Posted by Ben_Chiu on 09-19-02 at 06:01z
Greetings:

It's come to our attention that some may not be aware that in order for the entry/exit sounds to work in ACARS 2.0, you must have the Play sounds on message option enabled (in the Options menu), and you must have the person set as Buddy in your Buddy list (right click on the user and select Add/Remove buddy.

Our apologies for the confusion.

Ben

Let me also add, for those not used to an Instant Messaging type of application -

The purpose of ACARS is to show you who else is online and generally where they are on the VPC. It also will show your location ie. ,, etc.

If you add someone to your BUDDY list ( right click menu ), you will be notified when they enter or leave the VPC by hearing a quick tone.

If you want to send a person a *private* message, double click their name and input your message to the message window - click transmit and that's it.

For those with broadband, you can leave ACARS running all the time, if you wish.

ACARS can be set to minimize automatically on startup so all you'll have is the VPC icon in the systray. Depending on your preference, when a message arrives, ACARS will

1)do nothing but change the VPC icon in the tray to a rotating radar screen
2)Play a sound and show #1
3)Play a sound and pop up
4)Just pop up

This way you can set the level of notification you want.

If there are any questions - let me know.

Thanx,

Vic
