Hi Gang,Finally, after many months of work, our offline reader is ready, and we're proud to announce that version 1.1 is ready for public release! The link is available at http://www.flightadventures.com/downloads/OLR_dwnld.htm . Simply follow the instructions on the page to download what you need, and you'll soon be enjoying the luxury of viewing the VPC message boards at your leisure...OFFLINE! Most of our ex-compuserve members already appreciate the value and convenience of an OLR, and anyone that hasn't *MUST* try it! Once you do, you'll be hooked forever. Beta testers, pay close attention on the download page regarding the version of the perl script and backing up your custom.dic file.
My thanks go out to everyone that worked on this project. In particular, the main programmers, Guido Ostkamp and Vic Baron. Without them, we'd still be doing things the "web way" <yuuch>. I also want to thank Tom Hayward for his time in creating the installer that makes it *SO* easy for us to install, and the beta testers that really rode this thing into the ground to help get it where it is!
In the grand scheme of things though, Ben needs a real round of applause for his foresight and resources to create this new home for many folks displaced from other venues! If it wasn't for him, the need for an offline reader wouldn't have been there at all. Finally, I want to thank everyone who has pitched in and signed up for CREW membership here at the VPC. It's a small price that reaps many benefits, and those contributions are what ultimately keeps the VPC alive without annoying advertisements!
Enjoy the FREE offline reader folks!

The zip file must be unzipped and the files olr.pl and olr.pl.asc must be placed in your C:\Perl\bin folder (allow it to overwrite the existing files). If you're unfamiliar with zip files, let me know and I'll just email you the two files.
Best!
