Ben -When I logon to the VPC and click Message Forum, the Forum Conference window opens along with the ACARS window. I close the ACARS window and select the FSForum. The message window opens. I click a message thread and the thread window opens and the ACARS window reopens. If I close the ACARS a second time, it stays closed.
Also, is there a way to have the VPC remember the window size and position? A cookie possibly? Every time I read messages, I have to resize the Forum screens.
OK, that's enough to keep you busy for a few days

Hi Vic,
I will have to experiment a little bit with that one. I have not noticed, as I don't close the ACARS window right away. It might be some of the cookie testing on the initial open.
Do you close the ACARS windows BEFORE you are logged in? In other words, do you close the ACARS windows while the screen is saying welcome back, and before the "Flight Adventures ACARS" windows has logged you in? I don't recall if the message board window is using a set size, so I will have to look that up, or let Ben answer if he know right off the top of his head.
What OS and Browser version are you running?
Thanks

It shouldn't matter. If you close the Welcome window and log in, ACARS will detect that the window is closed and launch it again.

Message board come up with which ever size the user has set for IE. ACARS is a set size tho.

Could you explain what you mean? No matter what size I set the windows to, if I close and reopen them, they revert to the original. I don't click full screen but I drag to the size I want. Neither ACARS or the Message board retain these settings.

For me, IE will "remember" the the size of the window that I last dragged it to when I last shut it down. Of course, that would require it to be the last window of IE you shut down. Hmm, then again, if you access via the main URL, the last window shut down would be the main VPC window. Try resizing IE at another url, then shut it down and launch it again. FYI, I'm still using IE 5.5.
ACARS will not retain a resize.

THat's true but as you noted, the main window is the VPC. When I restart, it's full screen but the mb popup still comes up small.
Of course,

No joy!

Ben - FWIW, my system at work is 98SE and IE6 and the screen size is remembered.
Go figure.

The solution of course is to take your machine from work home!

Hello, since a few day I did find that being logged in and having ACARS windows open, this Acars windows changes to the "You're not logged on, but please feel free to look around. Welcome to the VPC Message Board! ". I repeat I am still logged in. Example this morning at 08h20 local time.
This happen when I am reading "new" and use the "next topic" , it happens after several "next topic" but I did not yet found how may.Emile

When you log in do you have the little check box enabled (Remember me option)? Have you changed your cookie security or installed a cookie blocker? Are you running the same version of IE you used before?
Thanks!

Greetings Emile:> 1/ no, I do not enable/check the "remain loggeg when you return later",
> should I?
Yes. There's no way for the system to recognize you again unless you accept the cookie ("remain logged on when you return later"). This will eliminate the not logged on window -- at least for 24 hours (the cookie expires every 24 hours).
The reason why ACARS works when you actually log in is because we send your login information to ACARS when you log in. If you don't log in or have the cookie, there's no way for ACARS to pick up you info.

If this the system behind the firewall, it may be blocking cookies as well.
