"Happy Whitsun!"

Hi all,

I would like to wish you all a "Happy Whitsun" or as we say
in Germany "Frohe Pfingsten!".

On Monday we have a (religious) public holiday here.
Does this also apply to the United States?

I am asking, because I am impatiently waiting for a
registration code for Radar Contact which I received
yesterday.

Regards,

Guido

Hi Guido,

This isn't a public holiday in the UK and I'm not aware of it being a public holiday in the US either. What's this holiday all about?

-Stephen.

You can read more about it at

Thanks for your info! I hope to get my registration code by
tomorrow in this case.

Thanks for the links, Guido, those pages are most informative. I have heard of Pentacost before but I was previously unaware that it's also known as Whitsun and I didn't realise this day is a public holiday in much of continental Europe.

Hello all,
This public holiday (based on the religion), is (I think) only in Europe (on the continent!) in Germany (Hi Guido !), France, Spain, Portugal, Italy.... and Belgium of course.
I wonder if this is not also a holiday in South America?

I think it will be present in countries with a high
percentage of Roman Catholic people. Thus it is a good
question whether it will be present in South America, as
they speak Spanish or Portuguese language there and AFAIK
both were very Catholic countries at that time.

Saw it. Thanks! It's called Pentecost here. (This is the first time I've heard "Whitsun".) While it's not a national holiday here in the US, Happy Whitsun to you!

Ben
