Re. Ben,s suggestion for posting of the weekly Multiplayer flights on the message board.

Great idea Ben, why didn,t we think of it before. Let,s kick the idea around guys and come up with suggestions.
My first one is (after reading about the Persistent World Flight capabilities) can we.. and more importantly in my case :).. how to, utilize the "Filing of flight plans for other pilots and ATC" function, having all our proposed positions and flights would be excellent.
My second one is to all who read this... come along on Saturdays.. you don,t know what you are missing :)
Regards, Andor

Still working on it. Please see my message in this thread to Andor.

Already on it. :) We're using live controllers with ATC Radar Screen and other folks are using FSNAV and weather add-ons such as ActiveSKY.

Unfortunately, there's still a bug yet to squash with the Persistent World and the auto launcher which doesn't allow filing of flightplans and displaying positions from the status page. It does work if you manually connect to the PW Flight.

Regardless, the reason behind my idea is to give ATC a chance to pull the proper charts and plates for each flight before the session. In the real world ATC works a certain sector so they have those charts available or are even well familiar with the procedures that they don't need to review routing, etc.. However, due to the limited number of ATC controllers we have and the large area we cover, it'd be easier if we had a heads up on what to expect prior to the session--which is why I suggested that we post the routes here first.

Hope this clears up what I was suggesting.

Best!

Ben

G,day Ben, Emille.

Yep Emille-- as Ben said we are already on the ATC control, mostly in Ben,s capable hands and makes the whole flight sessiom that much more realistic (and hair-raising :)

Yep Ben-- fully understand the necessity for the ATC to have the appropriate charts etc prior to us swarming all over the place :) I know the feeling when- say- KOAK is selected-- the frantic hunting around for (albiet homemade)maps of the area :( before even joining the flight. Will try and keep the ideas coming.
Regards,
Andor

I have several pounds of expired charts for this area. If you'd like to pay shipping on them, I'd be happy to send you a set of IFR IP's, enroute and VFR sectionals. Drop me an email if you're interested.

Arghhh!

Well, the problem isn't from writing a post and editing it (didn't do that). Maybe it's due to the lag time from my sat connection...
