Ecuador has 2 International Airports Quito and Guayaquil both sharing International services from 18 International Airlines. It has 13 Domestic Airports. The Coast climate is warm with temperatures from 25 to 31 Deg C throughout the year. This one will certainly require practice so be prepared.
This scenery is exceptional in FS2002 but for those using FS98 and lower along with Fly etc, please check the usual places for any add ons for your Flight Sim.
Navigational Charts for this airport are N/A. The nearest Airport with Nav Aids can be located at Cotopaxi (SELT) 50nm NW.
Please join us on Sunday, 9th March 2003 for the #14 VPC Flight Rally, and make sure to visit the Pilots Lounge after your flight to let us know all about it!
Please read http://www.flightadventures.com/docs/rally.htm and http://www.flightadventures.com/docs/VPCFTI.htm for detailed information on both VPC Flight Rallies and Flight Terminal Information. If you require further assistance or information then please don't hesitate to ask.
**** Remember folks, fly safe and have an enjoyable flight. ****

The view is marginally better looking the other way One problem that haunts flight sims is the restriction that the runway has to be flat, something that rarely happens in mountainous terrain. This tends to make the elevations around the airport rather more severe than they actually are.
Does anyone have any photographs of this airport?

what's the procedure to get *down* to this airport?
Do you have any STARs for it?
It seems its located in some kind of deep canyon?

Oh yes, fly safely (are you trying to get me killed?).I think practicing is cheating and like to fly to the destination without seeing it in advance but this time I took your advice and checked it out. I thought an emergency descent would serve me well. Got over the big hole in the Cessna RG at 80 kts, full flaps, gear down and start a tight spiraling turn. But with the lack of visibility in FS, I felt I couldn't tell where the walls were so I shallowed the spiral and just kept turning. After two crashes, I made it in twice. So it's do-able. You just have to have an airspeed no faster then 80 kts, 60 or 70 is better. Descend at 1000 fpm and don't dive and pick up speed. Try to level off somewhat at 4400 ft to find the runway and bleed off the last 1000 in a tight turn. I picked up some speed but with 5000' of runway you can afford to float a little. It really is a pain in the neck and especially with the gallery watching (with marshmallows ready for toasting) <g>
