"Rally 12 pictures"

This was the first rally I'd been able to fly for a while and with the destination being near Boston I decided to refly the route we'd taken on the first hop of the trip to Reno this year.

Not having a United 767 I settled on a British Airways 777-200 for the flight to Boston and the first picture is of the initial approach into Boston from the north.

Something smaller was in order for the second part of the trip and one of the best freeware plane for Fly!2 just has to be the Socata 700TBM. Second shot, we're just skirting the south of Boston centre.

CAVOK in Boston, by the time we're approaching Lake Placid it's really socking in.

But the weather clears approaching the airfield. The last shot is of the local area without the clouds.

This is generated with TerraScene, almost one-click scenery. Textures are the default Fly ones. Elevation map is from USGS 7.5m data, the textures are selected by reference to land use data and then roads, railways etc are overlayed. I selected the snow line at 3500ft but slightly lower would probably have been better. What really makes the hillls stand out is the relief shading. Unfortunately this has to be done at render time. The result can be almost satellite in detail and accuracy but without the expense.

Your pictures are wonderful. Thank you for sharing them.

This was my first rally with FA in a long time and I had a great time.

Regards,

Ed
