Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Santa's been and gone <G>Oh, what fun it is to fly a shiny Jumbo Jet (as long as it isn't American Airlines) <VBG>
Due to my error <s> this flight rally is a month late but, better late than never, eh. If I get it right next time then this will be the VPC Flight Rally Destination for December each year <s>. So, remember folk's this is a short runway with no ILS, so pray for VFR! Wrap up warm and come join us!

There is some good scenery and mesh scenery for most of the USA out there so dig around and see what you find. For mesh scenery try FSGENISIS web site (short plug <g>) Greenie will no doubt (if you ask him nicely) send you from the old gamers file library the following two files - NNYS2V.ZIP and NNY-OLYM.ZIP, both these files designed by Joel Church. I'm not sure what they will look like in FS2002!

Please join us on Sunday, 12th January 2003 for the 12th VPC Flight Rally, and make sure to visit the Pilots Lounge after your flight to let us know all about it!

Download or read http://www.flightadventures.com/docs/rally.htm and http://www.flightadventures.com/docs/VPCFTI.htm for detailed information on both VPC Flight Rallies and Flight Terminal Information. If you require further assistance or information then please don't hesitate to ask.

**** Remember folks, fly safe and have an enjoyable flight. ****

Hi Emile,

Sorry this got posted a bit late but with all that's been going on this last couple of weeks I've been pushed for time.

I note your upgrading/moving to a better pc?! Are you moving the contents from your original HD to the new pc or all fresh? Actually upgrading to XP is fairly easy <s>. I actually reformatted the HD and done a fresh install of XP on all my machines. I installed all the major programmes first so as I wasn't without FS for longer than a day <LOL>. Have fun my friend and hope to see you either in the air or in the Pilots Lounge afterwards.

Regards,

James (CONman) Anderson

Good old Lake Placid. It's a great tradition to fly
there during the winter months.

Good News - I was able to access vpc.ini (that's an
approximation of the name) to set up the trusted site
settings and now my flight terminal screen looks like it
might work.

I have a real-world lesson scheduled for the 12th but
was thinking of cancelling because it would be half day
and half night (cross-country) and it's the only time
slot available. I would prefer all day or all night.

Hope to see you the 12th.

Alan

Hi Con!

12th eh? Ah well <shucks> I'm on night duty so will not be able to make the day. But I'll try to do the flight anyway in the 744 from London to JFK and then on to LKP in something else, and maybe take pics.

Have a great day mate!

Hi Lee

I heard your call sign last Sunday over Roger Wilco as I was flying into Jersey. Must have been about 15 minutes behind you. Did you fly in from Bristol too?

Hi Paul

>>I heard your call sign last Sunday over Roger Wilco as I was flying into Jersey. Must have been about 15 minutes

Yes it was me, you got me! <g> I broke a cardinal rule that day. Never try out and fly a new plane to an event!!

I was looking for something to fly into Jersey because I wanted to do this FlyIn - Jersey has some interesting procedures not least Special VFR airspace right in the middle of a controlled zone!

Anyhow, I like the 757 - so I got one and a good panel and flew it out of Manchester.

Had problems with the thing right from cruise! Heavily overspeeding during descent but I landed fine - hitting reverse thrust caused the throttles to stay wide open and in the end I powered off the engines and came to rest about three quarters of a mile past the fence, east of runway 09!

Not a good day for me!

Anyhow, I have just had a go at the new MelJet 777-200 and its awesome! Great with the PSS panel!

What a great start to the yer - Dash 8 from PSS, new 747's from MelJet and POSKY and now a really great 777!

All I need now is to be able to fly a VPC Rally! <g>

Cheers mate,

Lee James

Try this 747-200 http://simpilot.com NOTE no www inserted......... Look for Ready For Pushback. I've just obtained it and only done a couple of flights and will reserve comment till later <s>

Hi James,

Got the 'Ready for Pushback' 742 myself the other week....WOW

I have only done a couple of circuits and bumps at EGCC and manual handling feels good. Not got into the FFRATES (or whatever) yet.

In certain ways it seems more complex than 767PIC and from some msgs in the AVSIM forums route planning and entry looks like 'fun' with limitations on the number of waypoints that can be entered.

I have had FDC since it was launched but never used it until this 742 and that helps a lot.

Printed out the 'Section 1' manual last night so that I can do some studying.

Look forward to finding some time to give the a/c a good testing.

Hi Vulcan,

Sure is a complex aircraft <s>. Still not sure on the panel myself but, I tend to ignore or not have the panel up as I use all Enrico's Project Magenta Glass Cockpit over a network. I'm still trying to fine tune the Autoland through PM's software. Lots of Oscilating above and below the glide slope + flare.

You printed out all 114 pages <s>. I have FDC but haven't used it very much <s>. Also have Enrico's PMSounds and S-Combo from vmax site.

Still got to find time for vatsim flying <g>

James

Just re-rendered the scenery around Lake Placid using TerraScene and it looks absolutely stunning (Fly!2). Files are huge though. KLKP lies on the border between two globe tiles so I've rendered 2 half tiles using USGS 7.5m terrain data. Total file size is close to 300MB! I've also got some scenery for Boston now, so it looks like it's going to be BA777 to Boston followed by a turbo-prop single into KLKP. I'll be sure to take some photos.

Wondered where you were James. Hope you're feeling better now. It was a good flight and had more participants than before.

See you at the next one.
