"screen freezes!!!!"

I neeed help!! periodically when i am flying using the spot plane or tower view the screen will all of a sudden freeze up and the only way to rectify this problem is to reboot. i have windows XP , athlon 1200 and ATI radeon 7500 video card with 64 megs ram. when i reboot i get the message stating that there was an incomplete drawing operation (or words to that effect) and the problem is probably something to do with my video card. when i check it though through device driver it tells me that the card is working properly so i am stumped. is this a problem with FS2002 or is it my card as my computer wants to tell me? if there is anyone out there who has had experiences similar to this or knowns anything about computers please reply!!!

Hi gooperI wonder if you could give us some more information about your system, like what version of DirectX your using (I'm semi-postive FS2002 requires DX8?) and what version of Drivers you have for your Radeon. Does this 'freeze' happen in any other Direct3D or OpenGL Game or App?
Cheers

Hi gooperok, I think the best thing is to get hold of a demo disc of a game that uses Direct3D, play it for a bit and see if you get the same screen freezes, that way we can narrow it down and see if it is actually the card or not.
Also to make sure you haven't accidently damaged any FS2002 files I would do a full reinstall of FS2002(make sure you backup any aircraft, scenery etc you have downloaded off the web)
Give that a try and keep us updated

Hi gooper,As an FS2002 Beta Tester the first thing I would try is Video Drivers. You may well be using the latest BUT, they don't always work 100% within FS. If you are using the latest drivers then go back a driver set and try those.

Hi Gooper - Another thing to try is to set your sound acceleration to basic. Use DXDIAG and locate the Direct Sound tab - you can change the setting there. *Sometimes* the sound acceleration will cause freezes but most probably it's a video driver.

Greetings gooper:One other thing to try is turning down your video acceleration. Righrt click on My Computer, Start: Settings: Properties: Performance tab: Graphics...: and try moving the slider to the left.
Keep us posted on any developments.
