patrahan Certificates/Ratings/Crew Stations: "Virtual Pilot yoke Calibration Help" 06-26-04, 15:05z  Good day. I am new to Flt Sim 2002. I was given a CH Virtual Pilot yoke,throttle and trim assy. Down loaded drivers and installed it.I realize it is older but I can not get it to calibrate. In the game port appliate it stays to the left side and is useless. RobertVA Certificates/Ratings/Crew Stations: 1. "RE: Virtual Pilot yoke Calibration Help" 06-26-04, 22:15z  Note that an axis that appears off center during calibration may work properly later. This phenomena is mentioned in the knowledgebase on the http://www.chproducts.com web site. The manual, available on the http://www.chproducts.com web site, lists some troubleshoting procedures. I'm not sure how well the jcenter test program works in Windows XP with compatability mode, since the manual expresses some concern about it not working in Windowa 2000. Trying shouldn't hurt anything, it's a mater of the application being able to read the port through the operating system's hardware interface. The manual mentions something about some gameports not being compatable with high clock speed CPUs. I would think that sort of problem would affect the pitch and throttle axis as well. If after calibration the roll axis remains at an extreme deflection the potentiometer wiper might not be making proper contact due to corroded or dirty contacts. I don't know what procedures are nessesary to access the inside of the houseing while preserving your ability to reassemble it though. Sometimes a troublesome potentiometer responds to a shot of contact cleaner, but sometimes a new potentiometer is neccessary. If you use any type of cleaner or lubericant on the moving parts or the potentiometers check the label to make sure it's safe for application on plastic. "RE: Virtual Pilot yoke Calibration Help" 06-26-04, 22:50z  I wasn't able to get the jcenter utility to work in Windows XP Home, even with compatability mode. Probably wouldn't work in Windows NT or Windows 2000 virtual machine / command line either. The properties button seemed to produce a suitable substitute for most functions. Both POVs showed on the same indicator. On my system the rudder I use on the gameport with the yoke was only showing the upper half of the travel in the calibration dialog (accessed through the control panel) but showed full travel in the simulator, which I started after finishing the calibration. Sticky Certificates/Ratings/Crew Stations: 3. "RE: Virtual Pilot yoke Calibration Help" 07-17-04, 00:15z  A CH question and I missed it. Been kind of busy with the new throttle quadrant. Well, maybe better late than never. For the VPPro, especially if you're using 2K/XP you should be using the new analog drivers (CHANLG08.EXE on the CH site). They work in '98, too. Anyway, they get rid of the double-POV nonsense in XP and provide their own calibration applet which included the adjustments that were in CTFJ 3.x so you can set the response, etc. if you want to. Do be sure to center the trim adjustments before you calibrate, if they're off center you just end up with an increased sensitivity in one direction or the other and it makes it harder to fly. Anyway, the calibration applet that comes with the drivers will show you the info that JCenter used to give.
