"Tasmanian Airfields"
04-03-04, 00:39z

G,day Guys,
FYI if anyone interested to see what Aus has to offer I would suggest having a look at the following web site.
http://virtualvfr.com/
Click on TASSIM drop down and scroll to:-
FS2004 Tasmanian/Airfields Package 14.5Mb

I think it is one of the best scenery/airfield packages I have come across, rather a large download, but it has a wealth of scenery, the large airports down to small "bush" strips on rivers, lakes, some a handful to get in and out of.
Enjoy,
Regards,
Andy

Thanks for the vector, Andy.

It might be interesting to make some of our Saturday flights here. I'd imagine there are few VORs out that way and the camps are small, so in addition to the challenge of short field operations, navigating to these places would be a nice change of pace.

The only problem I see is the scenery is for FS2004 only. Do you know if a 2002 package (for tb) is available?

What does everyone else think? Too advanced?

Ben

G,day guys,
No- not many VOR's , ILS, NDB,s in the Tassie area Ben, in fact most of the airstrips are grass or gravel and are very hard to find or see.
I couldn,t find the files for FS 2002, I know they are available as I had them when running 2k2 , they weren,t in one package, several groups of airfields and scenery etc.
I,ll drop a note into the Tassim Forum and find out.
All the required Textures, VOD, Gerrish' Trees etc etc. are available at virtualvfr.
I think we would all have fun with the Tas. airfields, I think tb would love them, especially the fireworks at Savage River or Devonport the Autumn (Fall) tree colourings and just the scenery :)
See you all Wednesday,
Regards,
Andy

Sounds like fun! :)

Thanks.

Ah, I'm not sure tb will be able to handle it if there isn't an install.

I'm sure he would as well, but the install will be the potential hangup.

I wouldn't mind short fields if the fixed wing guys would stick with planes the Bell can keep up with. That's about the only way I can get into those tiny places.

G,day Robert,
"Choppers" not allowed in Tassie (scares the daylights out of the Tassie Tigers and Devils) :)
Actually the helicopter idea very good as a lot of the fields are in pretty rugged country.
Regards,
Andy
