Hi Andy,>>I further disagree about not
having an expectancy in seeing you guys... not if.. but when!!!<<
Yup, that's the spirit! I've lost count as to how many "online" folks I've met over the years. The funny thing is that many times it's not really even planned...it just happens. The best part is that you already know each other, so there's really no awkwardness at all.
I'll relate a story. Back in '96 I went to the Microwings con in Dallas. There, I met (for the first time) a WHOLE bunch of folks that I've known for years. Gunner, Mike Fisher, Enrico Schiratti, Howard Bloom, etc etc. Of course most everyone else was experiencing the same thing. However, there was one old-timer named Jack, and he was talking to me and Gunner. He just couldn't understand how all of these people "knew" each other without having actually met. It turns out that he was simply a subscriber to the magazine, and while he did have a computer (so he could fly FS), he wasn't on the internet. He just couldn't grasp the concept of getting to know folks by typing back and forth on the computer. I met him again at the *last* MW conference in Seattle, and he had subsequently gotten "online" and finally understood what I was trying to relate four years prior. <g>
Communities like FSFORUM, GAMERS, and now the VPC really foster and nurture that type of relationship with it's members. Here we talk *WITH* each other rather than talk *AT* each other like you see on so many other fora. That's why I'm here and not there <g>.
