gnliskey Certificates/Ratings/Crew Stations: "Oceana NAS show" 09-08-03, 13:48z  Patti, I was at the Oceana air show on Saturday, Sept 6 and really enjoyed meeting you and watching you perform. I have wanted to see you fly in person for a long time. I was wondering what happened to your plane in the Saturday evening performance that caused you to cancel. I am really glad you chose to abort rather than risk injury. I have been flying Radio Control planes for 18 years and currentyl have a Cap232 and an Extra230. I know the value of checking equipment. You are an amazing pilot, athlete, and artist! Thanks for flying such a wonderful show! It was annouced that Patti lost her rudder control, putting an early end to Patti's wag Saturday. "RE: Oceana NAS show" 09-10-03, 01:18z  Hi everyone Dave was right...it was a rudder type problem, but actually it turned out to be a piece of my brake caliper had actually fallen off due to a sheared bolt. Go figure! I've never heard of this before. I finished the ribbon cut and then decided to land. Landing without brakes in the Extra can be tricky, depending on wind. You just have very little control. Luckily the wind was light and the runway was wide, though I had to stop the Extra on the runway and tow it back to show center, holding up the Blues for l0".
