Pilots who use Automatic Flight Service Stations (AFSS) and related services are being asked to participate in an online survey, which the FAA will begin on Friday August 1 and end on or about September 1. The survey, which will take approximately 20 minutes to complete, is tailored to the pilot's current flying and usage of AFSS services. It will quiz pilots on their expectations and what improvements they would like to see in the flight services offered.
Although the online poll is part of the FAA's current study on whether to subcontract AFSS functions to a private company, the agency said that regardless of the outcome, it hopes to make "significant" improvements in AFSS services. To ensure that only licensed pilots participate, each respondent will be asked to provide the last four digits of his or her pilot certificate and current ZIP code. The survey is located at:
