brynjames Certificates/Ratings/Crew Stations: "EGLC London City Missing Scenery Objects Error" 07-12-02, 14:34z  Has anyone tried the London City Airport files for FS2002 available on avsim? (London_city.zip and London_city2.zip). I get a missing scenery object error message on 2 different computers (and in FS2000 so it is not a FS2002 specific problem). I have all the textures from fsnova.com loaded (novatxt1.zip, novatxt2.zip, novatxt3.zip and novagt1.zip). There are also macro files on the fsnova site, but I understand these are needed only by designers, not end users - is this correct? The designer tells me I am the only one who has reported a problem, so it must be something on my system. Yes - but on 2 systems, one of which has absolutely no other added scenery? Can someone explain a bit more to me about the missing scenery objects error? I remember in the recent Stonehenge discussion, it took both a new bgl and a new bitmap file to fix. I thought in any case that if it were merely a case of missing textures that the result would be some unpainted areas or objects, not a missing object error message. Sorry I can't help as I use Gary Summons' software for UK airports. (His London City is excellent.) I suspect most other UK readers do too, or perhaps the work of another good writer, Barry Perfect. (His > London City is excellent.) Have you got Gary's Manchester? Phenomenally good, and he's done the AI traffic to so they use the proper gates and taxiways. The detail is really astounding -- set everything to maximum and see it all, including the baggage trolley trains. I'm using gate 51 on Terminal 3 for my BA 737. The "Airport" pub (Robinsons brewery), where I took my digital pics now resplendent as backgrounds on my monitors, is there in detail including the garden, tables, aviation fanatics -- and the view from there is uncannily like the pics I took! <G> Trouble is, it slowed my Athlon 1GHz PC down to 6-9 fps, so I've had to upgrade to a 2.4GHz P4. I only have the 2.2GHz P4 with that card but it goes liked greased lightening. I am, at last , trying out projection and as the version I feel like affording is XGA and, for the first time with a GeForce, I tried the antialiasing setting. It really improved the scenery and aircraft outlines but the panel was "swimming" about. I was on the point of emailng you for advice but thought I should first try a driver update. It did the trick. Okay -- this came with 29.42 installed already. <G> But I'm not sure I'll use anti-aliassing. On a quick test with a virgin FS2002 installation the frame rate at Meigs (default Cessna start up) with EVERYTHING maxed out, is around 20 fps, but over 30 fps without anti-aliassing. This is at 1280x1024x32 resolution. Moreover, at that resolution I really would be very hard-pressed to see any difference in image quality. I think anti-aliassing is more suited to lower resolutions, and especially for folks who like looking at the outsides of aircraft. I hadn't realised it would affect frame speeds that much, but with a 4'x 3' image at 1024x768 I shall want it on if possible. "RE: EGLC London City Missing Scenery Objects Error" 08-01-02, 11:42z  One of the experts over on the Avsim scenery designers forum pointed out that the hex error codes could simply be read as ASCII characters, which immediately pointed to the Nova Library bgl file as the culprit (I had not installed it). I had all the Nova texture files required, but had missed the library bgl file because it was bundled in a zip with a lot of macros which are only required by designers, not users.
