Happy to report that Patty and crew successfully weathered Frances. Some downed trees and a general mess, but otherwise they came out fine!!

Hi Dave et al

The airplanes, the Extra and the Baron, are still over at Keystone Heights, about 40 miles inland from St. Augustine. I brought them over there in case we had a storm surge and flooding at St. Augustine. The airport is located so close to the water. We didn't have flooding, both airports are ok, but St. Augustine Airport is still without power (as are lots of other people in St. Augustine, it's coming back slowly); so cannot open our electric hangar doors. Now I'm waiting out the evil hurricane IVAN to see whether to leave the airplanes in Keystone or bring them back. I do miss practicing and need to start practicing more, getting ready for our next airshow in beautiful tropical HAWAII!

On October 6th, we will put the airplane on a C-5A and bring it over to the Kaneohe Marine Station for an airshow that weekend. Then finish out the season with four more - Chesterfield County, (near Richmond), Virginia; NAS Jacksonville; Orlando and then Stuart, Florida.

Patty & Co.

ps Dave, I like your motto!

It is cool to look "up" at the ground, I have to admit.

It would be interesting to see the Extra going into the C-5, if possible take some pic's for us. I assume the wings have to come off???

I remember when the Sukhoi's came into Oshkosh on the Russian transport they kept the wings on but just had to remove the rudder so the plane would sit cross-wise.

We will keep our fingers crossed that Ivan decides to fall apart before Florida.
