Ben Chiu Certificates/Ratings/Crew Stations: "New VPC menu fine tuning up for test" 09-05-01, 20:37z  ____________________ Robert's been busy tinkering on the VPC navigation system. We've posted a test page at http://www.flightadventures.com/VPCA0905.HTM Please test it out to make sure it all works. (Also that clicking the same menu item doesn't log you off of a feature that you've already logged on to. Once we can give it the thumbs up, we'll move it to the main page for everyone else to us. Note that we've killed the live weather map in favor for a static image which allows the page to load about 2 times faster than it did before. Hodgo Certificates/Ratings/Crew Stations: 2. "RE: New VPC menu fine tuning up for test" 09-06-01, 12:23z  ____________________ The new navigation menu doesn't seem to appear at all for me - I just get a grey area where the menu should be but nothing appears. I'm using IE 6.0.2600.0000IS. I agree with the weather map icon - the dynamic image just slowed down page loading times unnecessarily and was a bit of an annoyance in that way. -Stephen. "RE: New VPC menu fine tuning up for test" 09-06-01, 15:35z  ____________________ I was concerned about IE 6, but I haven't worked up the courage to try it yet. I have read some articles that indicate that plug-in style addons like the Java applet and Script interpreters won't work with IE 6. I gather IE 6 insists on ActiveX controls. I don't know if Microsoft or anyone else is planning to release Java applet or Java Script interpreters that can be used as ActiveX controls. Those reports are a significant portion of what is makeing me reluctant to upgrade to IE 6. Please check to see if there are new Java interpreters written to work specificaly with IE6. Having IE 6 on your system may lead to the Windows Update page showing addons like Java Virtual Machine support. Since I am not aware of Netscape Navigator haveing Visual BASIC script capabilities, this may lead to a need to have alternate code in the pages or an alternate set of pages for IE. These problems may be connected with Microsoft's legal conflicts connected with their nonstandard implementation of Java. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Hodgo Certificates/Ratings/Crew Stations: 5. "RE: New VPC menu fine tuning up for test" 09-07-01, 14:18z  ____________________ I was referring to the new link posted in this thread but it looks like it was a false alarm - sorry! I just tried the link again and the menu there was working fine. The current menu on the VPC homepage has always worked ok for me but when I tried the new one yesterday it didn't seem to work.
