Greetings Andor:> Re above... well, that didn,t take long.. They have already posted a

Thanks for the note. Regarding updating RW, you should know that versions after our recommended version mk1c (found here at the VPC) has contained spyware (software that tracks your actions while on the net). As far as I know, mk1c was the last version before the spyware was added.
My general rules of thumb regarding software upgrades is not to upgrade anything unless at least one of the following is met:
1. I'm having problems with the current version.
2. The upgrade is absolutely required for what I'm doing/want to do.
3. The latest has been released and others have used it, reported no problems AND some benefit has been noted.
While installing new versions of something like RW does not have the consequences of installing something major like a new version of DirectX, I find these rules of thumb greatly reduce system dinking and headaches. So for now, I'm still sticking with mk1c.
If you had one of the other/newer versions of RW installed, you might look into installing one of the spyware killers like spybot to see if RW uninstalls all of the spyware it may have installed. I seem to recall one version was like that (e.g. version didn't completely uninstall), but it's been a long time and I may be mistaking RW with some other util that installed spyware without spelling it out to the user that that is what it was doing during the install.
Hope this helps!
Ben
