Hi Ben,>>(I've discovered a bug in the OLR, which is why this and
my previous reply did not tack on to the end of your last message.) Thinking about it again (I'm sorry. It's been so long between messages I've forgotten what the error was exactly), you were having problems with the OLR download page link at the top of the message board, correct? That's very strange. It's just a straight html link. No Java or
>anything going on there.<<
Yes that was the initial problem. Mike gave me two links, one for the OLR page which resulted in a "not found" error and the other for the main page which allowed me to follow the links to the OLR and I got to that thanks
>>There can only be a couple of possibilities:
1. Some firewall issue.<<
Ok, I use Windows 98 SE (have XP but not installed yet) but I don't use a network (although I should link the laptop up one day! <g>).
>>2. You have a corrupted copy of the page in your cache.
Try refreshing the page or emptying you cache and try the link again. If you have still have a problem with the link, see if you can grab the URL that's being called. You might try right clicking the link and selecting Open in a new window. See if that works.<<
Ok, I'll try that shortly and see what happens.
>>Regarding Java, if you can see the menu in the lobby, you
don't have a Java problem. I was originally thinking that you were having problems getting to the message board and that would indicate a Java problem.<<
Ok, I can get to the message board no problem so that seems to work.
>>Regarding cookies, Frank discovered that if he deletes
this cookies, he's able to access the message board, but only once. He can't return again until he deletes the cookies again. We're looking into the problem, but we think it's specific to his system. <<
Ok, I regularly delete the contents of my Temporary Internet files folder - would that cause any of these problems? I also clear my history regularly.
I may yet try the OLR since going in via the Net and IE is slow and cumbersome and I'm having problems keeping up with messages - whats seen and whats not seen.
Anyhow, take care and thanks for your help and your time.
Best regards,
Lee James
